Fondazione Teatro Massimo is a member in CALLAS. It is a cultural institution with an enduring international prestige, the very symbol of the city of Palermo (Italy).
Inaugurated in 1897, after almost thirty years of work, the theatre redesigned the landscape of the city to make way for the big architectural project conceived by Giovan Battista Filippo Basile. This gorgeous monument standing in the centre of the fifth largest city in Italy is one of the most important opera houses in Europe, both for its size (third after Paris and Vienna) and the importance of its musical tradition.

The 4/May/07: a CALLAS Workshop on Digital Technologies and Theatre, took place at Teatro Massimo in conjunction with the celebration of its 110 years from foundation.
